Reprint Of ALICE IN CHAINS Frontman's Biography 'Angry Chair' To Include New Chapter

Argentinean journalist-author Adriana Rubio, who penned the biography of late ALICE IN CHAINS frontman Layne Staley, titled "Layne Staley: Angry Chair", has issued the following statement regarding the recently announced plans to run a new reprint of the book via her new publisher ARTS Publications:

"'Layne Staley: Angry Chair' had three reprints from its original first publication in January 2003. I'm happy for the book success which is NOT my success. The reprint of this book has been requested for months when it became 'out of print' in 2005. And since then, many offers in that regard were respectfully declined, until now.

"'Layne Staley: Angry Chair' is being sold 'used' all over the planet via Internet from $180 to $400. What a shame! They are selling a book to people who probably don't have that much to actually spend for a book. And what if they are needing treatment or have a friend in need of help??? Do they have any idea of what this book is about???

"So, here I am, listening to all the interview tapes again and again. New material is being added to this new reprint of 'Layne Staley: Angry Chair'. The title for the new chapter is 'I Hate to Feel'. This is just because of Layne's message to help people to recover from the heroin nightmare and other addictions.

"'Layne Staley: Angry Chair' can be purchased via 'pre-ordering' only at ARTS Publications' website which is my current publisher. The price of the book remains the same from when it was first published by Xanadu Enterprises Inc.

"I wrote this book from my heart and was done the way Layne asked me to do it:

"I'm very thankful to Layne Staley for his words and music, his mother Nancy McCallum and his sister Liz Elmer for all the interviews in Alaska and Seattle back in 2001. I will never forget that phone call… R.I.P LAYNE."

Layne Staley died in April 2002. He was once on top of the music world as the lead singer for ALICE IN CHAINS and MAD SEASON. "Layne Staley: Angry Chair" is filled with exclusive interviews with his mother, Nancy, his sister, Liz, and Layne himself, as he broke his five-year public silence just months before his death. The book also includes pictures from Layne's childhood, drawings, poetry and a lot more.

According to Rolling Stone magazine, Rubio began the book with the Staley family's blessings, but the singer's mom later said it "lacked concern for basic human dignity" and withdrew support.

Rubio was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a member of "The Latin American Journalists Federation" (FELAP) and also of "The Union Press Workers of Buenos Aires" (UTPBA). She is an investigative journalist who has published three books in the United States: "Dave Mustaine: Are you Ready to Take the Risk?"
